Current Volunteer Opportunities
WNC is always in need of volunteer help with our many programs, and to operate our free store. Read below for current opportunities to volunteer for specific programs, or read more about Volunteering at our Store.
One Assembly Day Left
We need help with final assembly of supply kits Thursday, August 5th at the Intermediate School from 9am-11am. Feel free to stop by for as long as your schedule allows. Children are welcome! We’re still in need of 75 paper grocery bags to assemble the kits needed for distribution this fall. Please drop some off at any of our school supply drop-off locations, or bring some with you when you come to help on Thursday.
Community Garden Helping Clients
The Waunakee Community garden, called “Garden of Dreams” was dedicated in a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 20th. Started by theWaunakee High School Pay-it-Forward Club, the garden has already been helping numerous families this summer, including WNC clients.
Help WNC take our turn in helping tend and harvest the garden, August 1st-7th. We’ll meet each day at 9am to water and weed (if it didn’t rain the night prior). We will also be harvesting produce for WNC families on Tuesday, August 3rd at 9am. The garden is located next to the Middle School ball diamonds. If you can help, please email us with the day you prefer to help.
Read more about the garden and view photos of the ribbon cutting, from this online post.
Volunteer Help Needed!
WNC has some fun projects for you, your family or any group to do. Contact us if interested!
Client Birthday Bags: Decorate paper bags and then put in a cake mix, container of frosting and anything special you would like to add for our clients and their families birthdays.
New Client Bags: Decorate bags to be given to new clients. Put in the bag needed toiletry items such as a wash cloth, nail clippers, toothpaste, and whatever you decide.
Lead Store Volunteers - we need someone to work with Intermediate Students twice a month on Thursdays from 2:15-4pm. We could also use people to help on evenings or weekend hours, and are flexible as to when and how often.
Bulletin Board: Our new space is allowing us the ability to have a bulletin board, and we need volunteers to be responsible for keeping it up to date with notices and ways people can help at WNC. A little creativity, and availability about once a month is all that’s needed.
Client Birthday Cards: Purchase or make cards to be mailed to our clients and their families during the month of their birthday. You also help by writing a special note and including envelopes and postage.
