WNC is always in need of volunteer help with our many programs, and to operate our free store.  Read below for current opportunities to volunteer for specific programs, or read more about Volunteering at our Store.

Volunteer Needs

WNC currently needs volunteers in for the following opportunities.  Please contact us if you are interested in learning more.

• Waunabrat Fest Delivery Volunteers: We need volunteers to help deliver food orders for this event on Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11.  Contact us to sign up ASAP!
• Administrative Assistant:  We need an organized individual with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to help organize, manage, and schedule activites with partners and coordinators, facilitate communications, and support the WNC Director.  Friendly, courteous individuals with great customer service skills are encouraged to inquire.
• Saturday Store Lead: Looking for a person who likes to work with others to open the store one Saturday morning a month for voluteering and receiving donations.  No experience necessary, just an ability to direct others.  Training will be provided.
• Infant Supplies Person: Are you passionate about babies?  Do you have a knack for knowing safety information such as recalls on baby equipment/toys?  If you answered yes, then we need you!  We are looking for someone to keep the baby items up to date and safe for our families that need them.  You would be in charge of cleaning up or fixing donated items before a family receives them and making sure the item is still safe and has no recalls.
• Handy Persons:  We would love to have more “handy” volunteers who could help us with ongoing small installation and repair jobs around the store.  We currently need help building shelves!
• Donor Database Coordinator: We are in need someone to help us track information about our donors, volunteers, and partners. This involves consulting with volunteers and directors to establish and organize tracking needs and investigating software applications to meet our needs or if you are a software developer, perhaps you can volunteer to design and build a custom database.

Does Your Group Need A Project?

Would your classroom, club, church, business or group like a service project that would help your community?

WNC has many opportunities for you to get involved.  We know everyone enjoys helping others in our community but sometimes we just aren’t sure how to help out. Take a look at the list below for some ideas.  Contact us and we can help with further ideas and details.

• Do a drive to collect toiletry items (toilet paper, deodorant, shampoo/conditioner, etc.) or cleaning supplies (glass cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, all purpose cleaner, etc.).
• Make kits for upcoming projects such as “Fun in the Sun” items or First Aid Kits.  We’ll give you the list of what to include.  Do the collections, purchasing and assembly.
• Host a car wash and donate profits to WNC.
• Host a bake sale and donating the profits to WNC- a great idea during garage sales. Donate a percentage of the money you raise during garage sales to WNC.
• Donate 10%, $1, or any amount from the sale of business services or items to WNC.
• Put out a “collection” jar at your local business so folks can easily donate to WNC.
• Hold a neighborhood party where guests bring items needed by WNC (e.g., diapers, toilet paper, laundry soap, shampoo, hand soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.). 
• Create a neighborhood “carnival” and donating the profits to WNC.

These are some of the ideas that generous donors have used to help WNC fill the needs of many. You may have even more creative ideas. We welcome your creativity and your generous donations.
