WNC is always in need of volunteer help with our many programs, and to operate our free store.  Read below for current opportunities to volunteer for specific programs, or read more about Volunteering at our Store.

Volunteer Needs

We currently are in need of volunteers in for the following opportunities.  Please contact us if you are interested in learning more.

• Infant Supplies Person: Are you passionate about babies?  Do you have a knack for knowing safety information such as recalls on baby equipment/toys?  If you answered yes, then we need you!  We are looking for someone to keep the baby items up to date and safe for our families that need them.  You would be in charge of cleaning up or fixing donated items before a family receives them and making sure the item is still safe and has no recalls.
• Handy Persons:  We would love to have more “handy” volunteers who could help us with ongoing small installation and repair jobs around the store.  We currently need help building shelves!
• Bike Repair Person: We are in need of a talented volunteer that can fix up bikes!  Are you that person?  Can you spot a tire or chain that needs changing/repairing and screws that need tightening?    This shouldn’t take very much time but would be a wonderful help for our young (and young at heart!) clients!  We want to be sure we are providing functioning and safe equipment.  Please contact us if you can help!

Birthday Bags

We URGENTLY need volunteers to donate assembled birthday bags.  You and your family decorate 20-30 8x10x4 inch bags with handles, and fill them with a boxed cake mix, ready made frosting, and other “gender free” fun items you wish to provide such as toothbrush & toothpaste, bags of microwave popcorn, movie cards, and other fun treats.  Call 849-5740 to let us know of your interest and learn more.

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES

Christmas Meal, Kids Shopping & Adopt-a-Family – Christmas is just around the corner and we’re always needing businesses, groups, families and individuals to help us for the holidays.  You can help coordinate the meal drive, assemble or delivery meals, assist client’s children in shopping for their parents, or volunteer to help coordinate adopt-a-family activities.  Your help or your donations are always welcome and needed during our busiest time of year.
