Current Donation Opportunities
There are many ways to support WNC’s programming through monetary or in-kind donations. Whatever you chose to do, WNC thanks you for your generosity!
Culver’s Scoopie Night for WNC March 10th
Believe it or not, it’s been two months since our last fun-filled night with Scoopie and the Culver’s gang. Waunakee Culver’s is again partnering with WNC on Wednesday, March 10th, from 4:30-8:30pm, to host another Scoopie Night, where 10% of all proceeds will go to WNC’s Build-a-Bed program. This month we are targeting to purchase a toddler bed, and two sets of mattresses for our clients in need.
We thank you for your continued support withthis program, which helps ensure that our clients have beds to sleep on. We hope to see you all there again this month for supper or a yummy treat. Can’t wait to see you all there, and don’t forget to get a picture with Scoopie!
Orcas Hold Swim-a-thon for WNC
The Waunakee Orcas of Wisconsin (WOW) Swim Teamis sponsoring a swim-a-thon to raise money for Waunakee Neighborhood Connection on Saturday, March 13 from 4:30-6:30pm at the Waunakee Aquatic Center. The event is being held in conjunction with WOW’s Spring and Summer registration. Swimmers involved in the event will take pledges and swim as many laps as they can in a two hour period. It is open to anyone who wishes to participate, not only WOW members.
If someone is interested in pledging money to a swimmer they are welcome to pledge either by lap, or by simply donating a set amount. All checks should be written out to WOW. If you know a swimmer participating please get your pledge and check directly to them. If you do not know a swimmer and would like to sponsor contribute, please mail your check to WOW swimmer and swim-a-thon coordinator, Caroline Patz at 1811 Alexandria Mews; Waunakee, WI 53597.
The WOW Swim Club is Waunakee’s fastest growing swim team. The team is based on the five core values of: Spirit, Sportsmanship,
Dedication, Motivation, and Excellence, also called the “Orca Way”. WOW is a parent-run, nonprofit, sanctioned, United States Swimming Team committed to meeting the needs of all levels of swimmers ages 4-18 years. The Orcas make it a point to make charity work a part of their culture, getting as many swimmers and families involved as possible. To learn more, please visit their website at www.waunakeeorcas.org.
WOW chose to donate proceeds to WNC because “we are a largely community based swim team and WNC is a local, community based non-profit. We thought it would be nice to benefit an organization so close to home, and we know that WNC benefits so many families right here in Waunakee.” We hope you will join us in supporting our swimmers and WNC!
WNC Easter Meal & Spring Cleaning Bucket Program
Believe it or not, spring is almost here! Want proof? It’s time for the annual WNC Easter meal & spring cleaning bucket program! We are excited to be partnering with lots of community groups again, including the Waunakee SHARE, Senior Center, State Bank of Cross Plains, Waunakee Schools, Peace Lutheran Church, and Meffert Oil. However, we cannot do this without your help! Here’s how you can help families & seniors in need in the greater Waunakee area receive a free Easter meal, spring cleaning supplies & bucket and even car washes. If interested in volunteering for this program, please see our Volunteers page.
WE NEED GROCERY BAGS
In an effort to help recycle, we are asking for donations of cloth grocery bags, the size of the green Piggly Wiggly bags or larger. If you have some to donate, or are willing to purchase a few from Piggly Wiggly for us, please drop off your bags at the WNC Store (see calendar for hours), the Waunakee Police Department (Mon-Fri 7a-5p) or the Waunakee Senior Center before Wednesday, March 17th.
WE NEED MONETARY DONATIONS
The only reason we are able to continue this valuable program is because of the continued generous financial support of our donors and community. Please consider donating $25.00 for each family or senior you would like to provide with a free meal and cleaning bucket. Download the donation flyerto find out how to pay via check, or click the Donate Now button below to make a donation online via credit card, bank account or PayPal account. All donations to WNC are tax deductible and you will receive a tax deductible receipt via email or mail for your donation. We thank you all in advance for your support and help!
Due to the overwhelming positive response from our clients and community, WNC will once again be doing the Mother’s Day Gift of Gratitude program. We need your help!
We are looking for help from individuals, businesses and organizations to partner with us on this program. We currently are looking for help with donations of items to go into the gift boxes. Do you work in retail, or run a home sales business that would be willing to donate 170 items for our women in need? Are you a group, school, business, that would be willing to do a drive for a specific item? Do you have connections with companies that make items that may help with donations? If you do, please contact Mother’s Day coordinator & WNC board member, Angela Docherty at 850-9234. More information is coming next month on other ways to help!
